San Diego ComicCon Wrap-up!

I'll post more Grasshopper pages in a bit, but first, since I'm now sufficiently recovered from the experience, I thought I'd post some pics of my first visit to the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year. As I mentioned in a previous post, I had no idea what to expect, and went down to sunny california with a great crew of fellow canadian artists including Ramon Perez, Rob Coughler, Andy Belanger, Cameron Stewart and my hotel-mate and fellow Kirby-obsessive, Steve Manale. These are actually Steve's photos that I'm posting, since I didn't snap a single picture while I was there! Thanks, Steve!

Sometimes you just gotta read the instructions...

Never mock the power of the Yellow Stripe!

Stylin' and Profilin' at the beach...

...ah, the beach!

Frank Cammuso and his lovely wife, Ngoc, demonstrate their musical-theatre background with an impromptu display of jazz-hands. Ramon Perez is mildly amused.

Our fellow Canadians miss their flight. Ramon feels a migrane coming on as Andy B. prepares to optic-blast Cameron Stewart from across the cramped hotel room.

You know its time to leave when you get this jaded. Kill your idols, Steve!

umvugennjAh... Sandy Eggo. I still remember my first year there when we crammed 8 people in our room for the week. Sleeping on the floor grows on you after a while.

If it wasn't so damn expensive to go I'd be there every year. Great city and a great venue for the convention.

It was my first year going there too. Didn't care much for the manga, Image, Marvel, or video game section but it was great to see some of the illustrators I admire like Muth, Gianni, & Wrightson. Personal highlight for me was meeting Everett Raymond Kinstler. Hope you had a great time!

Yeah, I enjoyed San Diego and one of the highlights was meeting some of my fav artists and pros like Mike Royer, Jim Steranko and Gary Gianni and finding them to be such nice, friendly people.

Hey Don! Nice hearing from you again, too. Sorry I haven't contacted lately -- just too busy again...!
