Another night time sketch of an back alley in my neighbourhood. I'm still experimenting, but getting a bit closer to the look I'm aiming for. Like the last one, this was also done small, in ink and thinned-out gouache.
Oliver: Thanks, Olver. Hmmm...I can't remember where this one is from, actually. Though, I doubt it was north of bloor. Most of these alleys are between queen and bloor street. It might have been near Shaw street though.
H.R. Kim: hey Karen! Nice to hear from you. I hope you're doing well. By the way, why does your profile say you're in East Timor?? Did you move there??
Shane: thanks - I doubt I'll draw any comics in this 'style'. These sketches are just me trying to be naturalistic, and the painted approach just takes too long to do in comics. But you never know -- if it fits the subject matter, why not?
Fan Expo, Toronto
Aug 28-29 2009 I'll be selling prints and drawing sketches at Fan Expo in August. I'm also taking a limited number of pre-show orders for sketches to be picked up at the event. If you'd like to inquire about one, please email me. I draw them better in the comfort of my studio than at a con :)

Wow Mike, these are really cool!
Thanks, Jason. Hope things are going well with your art projects too.
You need to come to Vancouver to see some of our creepy back alleys.
It's a superb work you're doing with these sketches!
great mood and atmosphere, you thinking of doing a comic strip in this style?
Thanks, Luc & Roberto.
