Toronto back alleys pt 5

Another drawing of back alleys in my neighbourhood. Its spring now and all the city trees have new green on them, so I've tried to include a hint of that in this sketch. Like most of the other drawings I've posted lately, this one was also drawn in brush-pens on cream coloured paper.

It's nice to take the time to really look at an alley and enjoy it with this great composition instead of just running past it while playing Manhunt. :) Another sweet drawing, Mike!

What is the process when doing these great monochromatic drawings? do you start with the black and then go in with the green? or visa versa?

I'm working on a serigraph write now and thinking of doing the artwork in this style.

I love your images of city places where there are no people to ruin it...! Lovely acid green, too.

I love the affect you are achieving with the brush pens.

Michael I'd love to see this series offered as a set of signed lithos.

...and you are making me homesick.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone!

Lelandwong -- I go back and forth between the colours when working on these drawings. I used to put down all the tone first, and then the black, but after a while found it too boring and stiff. These days, I try to keep it as spontaneous as possible, so I work with both colours at the same time.
